Garbage collection hours are from 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. in residential areas. Please call your garbage company to make appointments for the Bulky Item Program.
Holidays
Garbage companies take only four (4) holidays per year:
- New Years Day
- 4th of July
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
These holidays may cause your garbage service to be delayed by one day during the appropriate week.
Service Areas
The City of Modesto contracts with Gilton Solid Waste Management and Bertolotti Disposal Service for all garbage and recycling collection services. Each company has an exclusive service area as deemed by the Modesto City Council
Your garbage company is determined by which street you live on. Review the Service Area Map (PDF) to locate your garbage company.
Trucks
Gilton Solid Waste uses a "1-pass" truck system, meaning the same truck picks up the garbage can and the yard waste can. The truck is divided internally to keep the materials separate, note the two (2) doors on the backview below. Bertolotti Disposal Service uses one (1) truck for the black garbage can and one (1) for the green yard waste can.
