Housing/HUD Programs

The Housing Division administers federal grants received by the City to maintain and improve both specific lower income neighborhoods and affordable housing throughout the city. Funds from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are used to provide low interest loans to rehabilitate homes and to support the development of housing by non profit organizations. HUD funds are also employed to help support necessary public services to populations most in need of assistance, including at-risk youth, seniors, the disabled and the homeless. The Housing Division also oversees the production of affordable units mandated by regulatory controls. Such units are targeted to lower income households.  Once developed, they are monitored so that affordability is maintained over time.

The City of Modesto offers a variety of housing assistance and housing rehabilitation programs, including homebuyer assistance.
