Earth Day in the Park

Modesto's Earth Day in the Park was a great success!  With the cooperation of great weather, several thousand people strolled through the park throughout the day visiting vendor booths, enjoying the free entertainment in the Mancini Bowl and sampling great food.

The Boyett Petroleum "B Green" event drew a total of 270 people "donating" e-waste, CRV recyclabes and 5.4 tons of paper.  All materials will be recycled and the money earned will be matched by Boyett Petroleum and donated to City of Modesto Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department programs.

Approximately 100 cyclists utilized the free bike corral and entered to win gift certificates from Valley Sporting Goods.

The 2010 Earth Day in the Park theme was "Random Acts of Green."  Attendees learned that every little "green" thing they do makes a difference.  So, what will you do today to make the earth a little greener?

Be sure to attend the 2011 Earth Day in the Park on Saturday, April 16, 2011.
